We’re All In This Together
“Connecting Our Community” with 1 GIG fiber internet is truly a community effort. Trailblazer Broadband’s construction and service rollout is a highly coordinated effort spearheaded by the same Estes Park Power and Communications team that keeps our utilities running each day. There are many other local connections as well. Trailblazer’s network designer and administrator is an Estes Park resident, as are all of our front-line Customer Support team members.
These local resources are joined by a number of front-range contractors to run fiber, support the network and keep home and business installations running smoothly. In spite of the many unique challenges of 2020, the project is progressing on schedule. “Building this type of infrastructure from the ground up is a huge undertaking,” comments Joe Lockhart, Estes Park Power and Communications Line Superintendent. “We understand that the construction phase causes some disruptions, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and support while we build out the fiber network and restore each area when construction is complete.”
Takin’ Care of Business
It’s cold now, but Trailblazer is looking forward to Spring as our downtown construction crews prepare to provide 1 GIG service to many downtown businesses in late Spring of 2021, just in time for the summer season. Since September, crews have been running underground fiber along the Riverwalk side of Macgregor avenue. Underground work in Estes is not easy in the winter, but pavers, frozen ground, hand digging and “donies” are no match for our team! Repair work is carefully completed to minimize impact to replace any removed pavers and to restore each area to its former state – or in many cases to better condition than before. Check out our progress on your next trip down to the Riverwalk! A meeting to introduce service to eligible businesses in the Spring. Details will be provided closer to that time.

24 x 7 Tech Support is Here!
Trailblazer customers now have access to highly trained technical resources at all times, day or night. In August of 2020 Trailblazer entered into an Inter-Governmental Agreement, or IGA, with the towns of Loveland and Fort Collins to provide round-the-clock technical support to all broadband customers.
All three communities offer fiber-to-the-home broadband internet service and are jointly vested in the Network Operations Center (NOC) and technical support staff located in Fort Collins. The NOC is operational 24 x 7 x 365 to provide technical support to customers in each area, and has been serving Trailblazer customers in Estes Park since September of 2020. Technical Support Representatives (TSRs) have received extensive training in Trailblazer’s fiber network, broadband equipment and installation procedures. The team also has full real-time visibility into the Trailblazer network to provide support and troubleshooting.
“We are extremely proud of our local Customer Support team here in Estes, and the added layer of technical expertise from the Ft. Collins group ensures that Trailblazer customers have someone to reach out to with technical issues at any time of the day or night,” says Kim Smith, Trailblazer Customer Experience Manager. Access to technical support is available through the main support line at 970-577-3770.

Alex Gudgeon, Power & Communications Fiber Technician
Alex’s face is already familiar to many in areas where Trailblazer Broadband is running fiber or working on installations. He is part of the trusted team from the Town of Estes Park’s Power & Communications Fiber division working to build out the fiber system for Trailblazer Broadband and he works with new customers in creating plans to bring fiber directly to their homes and businesses.
For the majority of his childhood, Alex lived internationally, including in Malaysia and Uganda. At 16 his family relocated to NYC. After high school, Alex traveled the US extensively and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains, eventually settling with his family in Lyons CO.
Alex is proud to be “riding the wave of the future and being part of the team providing broadband service to support the needs of the Estes community.”
